A day in the life of Ben: March '07 Edition

Good morning!

Yo quiero pancakes.

No, I don't want to get dressed! Who needs pants?

Mommy finally caught me. I'm all dressed and making fish faces.

All bundled in the car. Where are we going?

We're at the library for Storytime! I saw my friends Zachary, Leah and Peyton here and we had fun.

We played with maracas shaped like eggs and sang "If You're Happy and You Know It, Shake Your Egg". I am very good at turning around every time Mommy gets out the camera.

Don't I look like such a big boy in this picture?

The maraca shaking made me pretty sleepy. I didn't even finish my graham cracker.

I took a long nap and then had some lunch. Pasta and lima beans, yum!

And some ketchup (or "kebup" as I like to say) for dessert.

I spent some time coloring...

and reading...

took a graham cracker break...

and spent some quality time with my legos.

Time to make dinner!

I'm hungry. You'd better not try to eat my food, Daddy!

Time for a bath. I still have a little ketchup on my face, I think.

In my jammies.

Sneaking in a little workout before bed.

I know how to brush my own teeth, but Elmo needs some help.

Reading with Daddy.

Elmo and I are both pretty sleepy so we'll have to talk to you tomorrow.

Good night!

Singing

Here's a cute video of me singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" (sort of) with some help from Daddy.

Early Spring?

My parents did not get the memo that, despite what any groundhog says, it is still winter. I was a bit skeptical when they mentioned going for a hike this weekend but I didn't say anything because they were both so excited that the temperature was above 30. I wasn't too sure about riding in my new backpack carrier, but once we got going I had fun. I liked being up high and I even saw some dogs and a few ducks during our trip.

Dancing Machine

(p.s. I really wasn't as close to the gate as it looks!)

"The Met"

This weekend I went to the Chldren's Metamorphosis Museum in NH. I wore myself out running around, playing and climbing on everything. I decided that when I grow up, I want to be either a firefighter, a mailman, a musician, a dentist or a very important businessperson.

Eating, playing, meowing

Today I had a very important lunch date with my good friends Max and Kate. I hadn't seen them in awhile so I was very excited. We had a blast eating (and making messes with) our lunch, playing with the trains and practicing saying each other's names. I am very good at saying "Max". I can say "Kate" also, but sometimes I get it confused with "kitty" and I just say "meow". She knows what I mean though.

It finally snowed!

Daddy took me outside to play in the snow today. I wasn't interested in picking up the snow, but I thought walking through it was really funny.

Lots of talking

Here are two short clips demonstrating my new linguistic abilities. Not only do I know lots of words in English, I also know a few in various animal languages. In the first clip, I am a tad distracted by my snack and by the camera. In the second one, I got a little camera shy at the end because I was feeling a bit under the weather and I was self conscious about my runny nose.

There's a window there!

This weekend I took a trip to the Institute of Contemporary Art with Mommy, Daddy and Uncle Andy. I spent most of the trip confined to my stroller but that was good because I would have been too tempted to touch everything. I had fun running up and down this walkway from one gallery to the next. The wall was all glass and had a great view of the harbor.
Yes, I am wearing the ham hoodie again, in case you didn't notice.

So cold

It is very cold outside today as indicated by the frost on the window. Allow me to point it out to you.

I think I'll play inside today.

So much to say!

I have recently experienced a vocabulary explosion. I talk all the time now! I know too many words to list here. My newest word is "umbrella". I am still working on it, but I practice a lot when I read my alphabet book and see the picture of the umbrella. One of my favorite words is "bubble", which is how I refer to my bath. (Mommy and Daddy have to spell it in front of me because I get waaaaaay too excited about the idea of bathing.) I am starting to learn a lot of phrases also. I say "Thank you", "Oh, cool!" and "I don't know". I also like to yell "Go! Go!" when football ("ball-ball") is on TV. I discovered last weekend, this also works for Rocky IV.
I also like to identify people in pictures or on TV, but I usually call everyone either "Daddy" or "Elmo".

Ben's Photo Montage: 9 to 18 months

I'm 18 months old today! Mommy put together a bunch of pictures of me for your enjoyment. (Please forgive the overly sentimental music - that's just the kind of mood she was in!)

My red wagon

I like to spend as much time as possible in my new wagon. It's not just good for transportation. It also works well as a lounge chair and as a bed.
