Spiders and Art

Mommy and Daddy and I went to family day at the Institute of Contemporary Art. I was very excited because the ICA was featuring the art of my new favorite artist Louise Bourgeois whose work consists of sculptures, prints, drawings and paintings of spiders. I have recently become fascinated with spiders, both in literature and in real life. Some of my favorites include: the Itsy Bitsy spider and her friend the Big Hairy spider, Charlotte from "Charlotte's Web", the spider who frightened Miss Muffet and the spiders on my Halloween jammies. You can imagine my delight when I saw the 11 foot tall spider sculpture on display (you'll have to imagine it because we weren't allowed to take pictures in the gallery).

The ICA holds programs for kids once a month and I was prepared to wow everyone with my artistic abilities, which are far beyond those typical to my age group. We made sculptures out of every day things. I picked the straws. Mommy and Daddy helped.

I was anxious to get back upstairs to see more spiders and other cool stuff so I finished my project quickly.

Here is my finished product:

Art, like golf, is hard.

Rocco

This is my bear Rocco (hanging out on the couch with me, Elmo and Bunny). Rocco is a good friend so I like to make sure that he is well taken care of. I am sure to let Mommy know whenever Rocco needs a new diaper or would prefer to read a certain book.
Yesterday, while I was drinking my juice, I realized that Rocco must be thirsty as well. I was just about to get some juice for my friend when I realized he does not have a mouth!
To overcome this obstacle, I developed a plan involving some delicate bear surgery. I told Mommy that I needed scissors but she wouldn't give them to me.
If Rocco looks particularly dehydrated, blame Mommy.

Baby monitor musings

When I was a baby, I would wake up and demand attention immediately. Now that I am a big boy, I like to hang out in my crib and talk to myself for a few minutes before I call Mommy or Daddy to come get me. Sometimes I forget that they can hear me on the monitor. These are some of the things they have overheard me say recently:

"Where's Mommy? Mommy's at work. Where's Daddy? Daddy's on the train. I like that. I like that train."
"W! Need more super letters!"
"Oink, oink, oink. That's what a pig says."
"Zookeeper, zookeeper, what do you hear? I hear children." (okay, I was quoting a book there)
"Uh oh, fell down, basketball, basketball!"
"Hey, crocodile, don't drink the water."

It may sound like childish babbling to you, but it all makes perfect sense to me.
