Long weekend

This was a great weekend. Daddy was home for three whole days! Mommy and Daddy did a lot of work around the house and I was extremely helpful (as always).

Here I am showing Daddy where to find the pots and pans so he can make breakfast:

Helping Mommy and Daddy sort through their summer clothes that have been up in the attic all winter:

Daddy and me working in the garden:

Can you believe they put locks on the cabinet doors? How am I supposed to get to the pots and pans now? I've been thwarted by babyproofing devices yet again!

This is what happens when it rains!

Once upon a time, I had a normal backyard. Then it rained and rained and rained and rained. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the sun came out. Now, instead of a normal backyard, I have a jungle.

Behold the power of cheese.

Today, I had some mozzarella cheese with my lunch. It was goooooood. Uncle Mike will be so proud!

I have been trying a lot of new foods recently. My absolute favorite is yogurt. I can't get enough of that stuff.

I've also tried:
tomatoes (not sure how I feel about those yet)
turkey sausage (yum)
eggs (yum, yum)
bacon (hmmmm...a little weird)
maple syrup (lots of fun to get all over my hands, especially when it's on Mommy's plate and she's trying to eat!)

Crawling...

I have been on the move for several weeks now. My favorite thing to do is crawl as fast as I can from the living room to the kitchen. I get so excited when I get going! I am obsessed with the kitchen chair. I love to grab the back of the chair and try to do chin-ups. My parents always try to stop me. What is up with that? I'm just trying to work out.

Art in the Park

This past weekend, Daddy and Mommy and I took a trip to the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park. I saw lots of interesting things there.

Who is this guy?

Now, why would someone build a giant teether and then tell me I'm not supposed to chew on it? That doesn't seem fair.

Let me see that map, I'll show you which way to go.

Or maybe I'll just eat the map. Yeah, that's a better idea.

Me and my favorite sculpture entitled "Trojan Piggybank".

That was fun!

My favorite way to travel...

Check out my new Kozy carrier. Don't I look comfy? Every time I'm in here, I magically fall asleep. Mommy wishes she had this when I was a newborn!

My 9 month check-up

Today I went to visit Dr. Sanders for my 9 month check-up. I like Dr. Sanders a lot, she makes me laugh. I'm not so fond of that nurse who gives me the shots. Luckily, I didn't have to get any shots today so it was a fun visit. I'm weighing in at 20lbs 14oz (and Mommy's back is feeling it) and I am 28.5 inches long. Mommy and the doctor talked a lot and it was very boring for me. I kept trying to grab a blood pressure cuff so I'd at least have something to chew on, but I couldn't quite reach it. I can't believe that by my next doctor's appointment, I will be a year old!

(On a side note: When Mommy was pregnant with me, she belonged to an online community of pregnant mommies who were due in July 2005. There was a lady in the group who was pregnant with triplets and gave birth very early due to some complications. All of the babies were very tiny, and two of them went to heaven after only a few days. One little boy survived and today is his first birthday. Although we've never met "in real life", we think of him often and want to wish him a very special Happy Birthday!! Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his mommy and daddy on what must be a happy and sad day for them.)

Toys?

Yeah, I know I have a bunch of toys on the floor behind me. I'd much rather play with the TV remote, a bowl and Mommy's chapstick. So what?

Woohoo! It's Spring!

We have had some beautiful weather recently. I'm so glad that it's spring and I can finally wear short sleeves! On Thursday, I took a nice, long walk with my friends Kate and Max.

We really did have fun, despite the fact that none of us could be bothered to smile.

I also got to sit on the grass for the first time (the ground has been covered with snow and leaves since I learned how to sit).

I'm not really sure how I feel about grass yet.

The Champion Eater

Eating is one of my favorite things to do. My favorite foods are oatmeal, applesauce, peaches and yams. I am pretty easy to please. The only thing I don't like is squash. Yuck!

Misery loves company?

It took 8 months, but I got my first cold this weekend. Daddy wasn't feeling well either so we spent a lot of time sleeping. We're both feeling much better now.

The munchkin is on the move...

...or at least I'm trying! These new floors look pretty but they are slippery. I'm contemplating crawling but every time I get ready, my knees slip out from under me. I'm working on it but I think crawling may be overrated.

The other day I surprised Mommy by pulling myself up to a standing position in my crib. Now I love to stand up, I'm done with sitting. I'm particularly difficult when Mommy and Daddy try to put me into my car seat. They just don't understand that I stand up now and sitting is for babies!

Fun times in the crib

I've recently learned how to pull myself from a sitting position to a kneeling position. I practice a lot when I'm in my crib. Pretty soon I'll be ready to climb right out of there.

Speaking of my crib, I've realized that it also works well as a teether. Why didn't I notice this before?

Note the teeth marks:

Chowder and Babbling

My grandparents came to visit me this weekend. On Saturday we went to Finz (Mommy and Daddy's favorite seafood restaurant) for lunch. I was, once again, forced to watch everyone else eat good food while they expected me to be content playing with a toy. I can't wait until I'm big enough to eat clam chowder. Later, I entertained everyone with my mad story-telling skills.

I also learned that, when Daddy isn't available for nap time, Uncle Andy is a pretty good substitute.

However, nothing beats the original.

Pretend Vacation

Mommy and Daddy and I spent the last few days in a hotel because we had the floors refinished in our house. (Thanks for hooking us up with the nice room, Grandpa!) We had fun and pretended to be on vacation. I was in a great mood the whole time. I was so distracted by all the new things to look at. I even got to go swimming for the first time in my life. Who knew splashing could be so much fun!
Here are some pics of me in the pool:

And one more because I'm so cute:
